David L. Boelman, CPA

"I have always had an interest in business. Any business. This led me to explore a number of

positions, learning as much as I could from each one along the way. After graduating from the

University of Northern Iowa with a degree in accounting, I joined Mosebach Griffith in Cedar

Rapids as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Three years later, I went to work for Ernst &

Young where I was an audit manager in the Entrepreneurial Services group, working directly

with small businesses. Overall, my public accounting experience was very diverse it

encompassed audit, tax, acquisition due diligence, and Sarbanes Oxley 404 implementation for a wide variety of companies. This breadth of experience led me next to be controller for a Des Moines based financial services company.

My motivation to co-found Boelman Shaw & Company came from a desire to re-shape the way

retirement planning is done. Rather than acting as a salesman trying to sell a product, I believe in taking on the role of a consultant to my clients. I believe in helping them achieve the most benefit with the resources they have available. I also believe we can contribute significant value to people entering retirement by designing a framework for their retirement income needs. The result of these combined beliefs and experiences is the foundation for Boelman Shaw & Company."

Jason W. Shaw, CPA

"The experience and learning opportunities I've encountered since early in my college career have helped prepare me for the challenges and responsibilities of co-owning and operating a

disciplined, ethical, responsible investment advisory practice. At Iowa State University, I

double-majored in Accounting and Finance, with a minor in Economics. While still in college, I

worked as an intern in the tax department at Deloitte & Touche LLP, and later at Ernst &

Young LLP in the financial audit department. Working for large accounting firms exposed me

to a variety of clientele, and gave me invaluable experience in consulting with high-level

executive and understanding how business works.

From public accounting, I transitioned to the financial services field where I felt I could make a bigger impactin peoples' lives with more one-on-one interaction. I teamed with a successful investment advisor and focused my energies on creating unique income plans for retiring individuals.

After learning and growing as much as I could in that environment, the next logical step was to

create a new firm, dedicated to the principles and ideals I developed throughout my career. Boelman Shaw & Company LLC is the result."
